Fiduciary duties can go astray
Let's bring them back to humane proportions
Company directors are treated as trustees with respect to the assets of the company which come into their hands or under their control. That extends beyond prohibitions on use to positive duties to use. At times this places the interests of humans and nature below that of assets under management. It often steers directors towards maximizing shareholder wealth to the detriment of all other considerations.
Are we really sure that is a good idea?
